One day workshop on Disaster Management and Risk reduction

The Department of Environmental Science and Eco-friendly Association in collaboration with SARITSA FOUNDATION, Mumbai organized a one day workshop on Disaster Management.

The workshop was attended by 130 students and 30 faculty members of the university. The workshop covered several important issues like National Security - Terrorism and Bomb Blast, Earthquakes, Floods, Fire Emergencies, and Chemical and Biological Hazards.

The sessions were taken by subject experts including

·       Dr. Colonel N M Verma served Indian Army gloriously and is a national and international expert on issues related with National Security, Terrorism and Disaster Management.

·       Prof. Smita Kadam, Executive Director and Trustee, Saritsa Foundation. She is an expert in Seismology, Tsunami, Flood & Cyclone.

·       Prof. Kamlesh Kumar Vashistha, Director of Saritsa Foundation for state of Rajasthan and Director of Saritsa Foundation for state of Rajasthan and Head Faculty for Environmental Protection, Droughts and Water Management

·       Prof. Anant Dalal, Head Faculty and Director Program Coordination of Saritsa Foundation. He is Chemical Engineer from IIT Mumbai. He has rich experience and expertise in the field of Management of Chemical Hazards

 

The workshop was activity based where students were given practical training about the use of different specialized equipments and commonly available material to be used at the time of emergency.
