The department of Environmental Science and Eco-friendly Association organized an educational tour with a group of 48 students and 02 faculty members to Kalp Taru Power Plant and Bisalpur Dam, in the Tonk district on 20th August 2015.
Kalp Taru Power plant is a biomass based power plant .The power plant is an example of sustainable production process where agricultural waste is being utilized instead of fossil fuel. During the visit, the students got acquainted to the process of electricity production, water treatment and processing of raw material.
Bisalpur dam, the largest dam in the state of Rajasthan, built on the Banas river was also visited by the group. Here, students got acquainted to the structure of dam and the process of production of hydroelectric power. On the way to the power plant, students enjoyed at Hathi Bhata, which is an area where natural rocks are conserved and carved into a structure of an elephant. The tour proved to be beneficial for the students as they gained knowledge about various processes of electricity production.
