Talk on ‘Household Plants and Their Management’

The Eco-Friendly Association and NSS unit of IIS (deemed to be University) organized an expert talk on ‘Household Plants and Their Management’ on 19th September 2021. The speaker of the talk was Professor Shyam Sundar Jyani, winner of UN’s Land4Life award 2021 for Familial Forestry, Associate Professor in Sociology. Other invitees for the session were Major General Anuj Mathur VSM (retd.), he was commissioned into the 10th battalion of the Jammu Kashmir rifles regiment in 1981. Dr. Shelja K. Juneja, former head and Associate Professor, Department of Environmental Science IIS (deemed to be University) and Mr. Mahavir Pratap Sharma, past chair of TiE Global board of Trustees, RAIN- Co-founder, Chairman of Rajasthan Angel Innovator Network, Founder and owner at Oscar Expo Design LLP, Founder and owner at Swishin Events LLP, and Co-founder and Director at Jaipur Jewelry Show. A total of 228 students and faculty members, in addition to other invitees joined the session. Mr. Shyam Sundar Jyani discussed and thrown light on household plants and their management. The discussion took place regarding various nutritious rich vegetables, methods to easily plant them and to manage them. Example, Moringa / Drumstick, Aloe Vera, Baingan, Gwar Phali, Mirch, Dhaniya, Methi, Palak. Also, the speaker discussed about the plantation and management of flowers like Gulaab, marigold and Guldaudi and their benefits. The discussion also included about fruit plantations at home, their management, their pest control; the fruits included Anaar, grafted Amrood, and grafted lemon.

The talk was really helpful and informative for the participants. It ended on a note to plant more and more trees in household, manage them so as to preserve our Mother Earth, to see our mother Earth a little better place than what we have inherited.
