Upon completion of this practical course, students will:

CO33: Illustrate working principle and procedures for instruments used in microbiology and biotechnology exercises

CO34: Explain techniques involved in isolation of microorganisms from different habitats

CO35: Develop the practical skills for conducting experiments to assess the microbial load in samples collected from various habitats

CO36: Develop a very good understanding of quantification of microbes from various water sources

  • Preparation of Nutrient Agar and Nutrient Broth
  • Isolation of pure culture using Streak Plate Technique
  • Isolation of microorganisms from soil sample.
  • Isolation of microorganisms from water sample
  • Examination of sanitary quality of milk by coliform analysis and methylene blue reductase test
  • To study the gram staining of bacteria culture
  • Thin layer chromatography
  • Paper chromatography
  • MPN (Most Probable Number)-for polluted and non-polluted water samples
