Practical
This course will enable the students to -
- Understand the principles and concepts of waste management, including the different types of waste, their characteristics, and the different methods of waste disposal.
- Evaluate the environmental impact of different waste management practices and make recommendations for sustainable waste management practices.

Upon completion of this course, students will: CO89: Identify different types of waste and understand their potential impact on the environment. CO90: Apply the principles of the waste hierarchy (reduce, reuse, recycle, recover, dispose) to waste management scenarios CO91: Design and implement effective waste reduction and recycling programs for a variety of settings, such as households, businesses, and public spaces CO92: Communicate effectively about waste management issues, including the environmental, economic, and social dimensions of these issues, to diverse audiences |

- Conduct a waste quantification in your home or workplace
- Waste characterization studies: Collecting and analyzing samples of solid waste to determine its composition, quantity, and other characteristics.
- Determination of moisture content of the waste stream
- Designing and implementing a waste reduction campaign in an institute/community
- Designing a plan for raising awareness regarding waste recycling in community
- Composting/Vermicomposting Demonstrations
- Analysis of available Waste Management Case studies/Waste Audit Reports
