environment and its protection

Approach                           in teaching:

Conduction of practical exercises, Interpretation of results obtained after

conduction     of practicals, field visits

Learning activities for the students: Preparation of flow charts for conduction of practical exercises, Interpretation of results according to the given study sites, Browsing through informative portals such as ENVIS

Preparation of practical records, Preparation of Green File and Herbarium Viva Voce,

Class Test, Semester End Examination

CONTENTS

  • Study of vegetation of local area/college campus and Herbarium preparation
  • Study of the fauna of the local area/college campus
  • To find out the minimum size and number of the quadrat for vegetation study
  • Study of vegetation density, frequency and abundance by quadrat method
  • To calculate the leaf area index
  • To calculate per cent leaf injury
  • Determination of Chlorophyll Content of leaves from polluted and non-polluted areas
  • Estimation of Dust Retention Capacity of the leaf samples

Preparation of a Record comprising of the following topics (using maps)

  • Major biomes of the world
  • Hotspots of Biodiversity in India
  • Important Environmental Organizations (National and International)
  • Project Tiger in India
  • Ramsar sites in India
  • National parks and sanctuaries of Rajasthan
  • National parks and sanctuaries of India
  • Biosphere reserves of India

Visit to a Zoo/ National Park/any natural habitat/sanctuary and report preparation for the same.

Note: Any other practical exercise (related to theory) may be conducted besides the ones mentioned above.
