WILDLIFE WEEK (1-7 October 2013)

WILDLIFE WEEK (1-7 October 2013)

In an effort to create greater awareness and pride among the students towards wildlife and its conservation, we have been implementing several environmental awareness programes which includes screenings of wildlife films, sensitizing the college students on the need to protect the environment, celebrating wildlife week and world environment day. This year as well wildlife week was celebrated with great enthusiasm. A lot of planning and preparation went into ensuring that the programme would go off without any hitch.

The program started on 3rdoct with the screening of two most thought provoking and enjoyable movies-“Life of Pi” and “Delhi Safari”. A small talk about the films and its message preceded the screening. The movies had menacing moments. Delhi safari -3-Danimated film is the story of a journey undertaken by a cub leopard, his mother, a monkey, a bear and a parrot when the forest they live is on the verge of destruction. On the other hand, life of Pi demonstrates the power of human potential and courage. The higher impact movie delivers some key lessons for life. It’s a story of the protagonist Pi’s magical journey on a lifeboat with a royal Bengal tiger for company and in the process discovering himself, faith and god.

The next day, 4th October started off with the quiz contest which showed the high level of awareness among children. The quiz got lot of participants from every sphere. Avantika Shekhawat of M.Sc environmental science secured first position in the quiz. Next day, 5th October, slogan writing competition was organized. The competition was truly remarkable as it reflected the creativity of the students and the theme for the same was wildlife conservation. The winners were awarded to increase their enthusiasm. The wildlife conservation was the culmination of all these events.
