Objective: 

This course will enable the students to -

  1. Make the students learn the practical aspect of vegetation dynamics, qualitative and quantitative analysis of soil parameters and air quality analysis for applying preventive and corrective measures.
  2. Appraise students about the various aspects and methods of soil quality analysis for the remediation of polluted soils for environmental sustainability.

EXERCISES ON BIODIVERSITY/WILDLIFE

  • Determination of Leaf Area Index (LAI)
  • Determination of Percent leaf injury
  • Determination of Chlorophyll Content of leaves from polluted and non-polluted areas
  • Determination of Frequency, Density and Abundance of various plant species in a community by quadrat method
  • Identification of Mammalian Species by Hair Imprinting Method
  • Wildlife estimation through the Mark Recapture technique
  • Documentation of different species of birds, insects, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, etc. in the nearby areas
  • Preparation of a digital album of local wildlife

  • Report writing and presentation on the habitat, behaviour, threats and conservation status of any one endangered species of India

         EXERCISES ON ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

  • Creation of an ecolabel that represents a sustainable product and description of the label created
  • Designing an environmental education activity to raise awareness and promote action on a specific environmental issue.

  • National Parks, Wildlife Sanctuaries and Tiger Reserves in Rajasthan
  • Ramsar sites in India

VISIT

In this semester each student must visit a National Park/ any natural habitat/ Sanctuary/Research organization/Industry and prepare a report of the same, marks for which will be added to the practical exam.
