On the occasion of World Environment day on 5th June 2021, the Department of Environmental Science and Eco-friendly Association, organized an expert talk on ‘Ecological Restoration: Strengthening The Natural Support System’. The major aim of the talk was to make the students of the university aware about the importance of environmental conservation and the significance of celebrating 5th June as World Environment Day. The speaker for the talk was Dr. Dipankar Saha, Former Additional Director, CPCB, New Delhi and Sr. Scientific Officer, WB Pollution Control Board, Kolkata and expert member, Environment appraisal committee, Government of India. A total of 52 students and faculty members attended the session. He talked about various aspects of environment and mainly stressed upon environmental issues. He also explained that these issues can be solved by adopting a holistic approach like Ecological Restoration. He encouraged everyone for changing their attitude towards environmental components and move towards the approach of environmental conservation. He emphasized upon tree plantation and discussed how a single tree is important for the survival of every creature on earth. The session ended with the recitation of Environment Day Anthem. The talk proved to be very enriching for all the participants.
