M.Sc. Environmental Science [2]
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES
After completion of post graduation in Environmental Science the student will:
PO1 |
Develop an in-depth understanding of the interdisciplinary relationship of cultural, ethical, and social aspects of local/global environmental issues. |
---|---|
PO2 |
Appraise the scope and importance of environmental science for dealing with social and global environmental issues like climate change, natural resource exploitation, habitat destruction and waste disposal. |
PO3 |
Design and evaluate strategies, technologies and methods for assessment and sustainable management of environmental systems for restoration of degraded environments. |
PO4 |
Develop proficiency in quantitative methods, qualitative analysis, critical thinking, written and oral communication needed to address environmental issues as per international and national guidelines. |
PO5 |
Devise scientific, economic and legal framework for environmental remediation, protection and sustainable development. |
PO6 |
Visit project sites and investigate and collect baseline environmental data and other relevant information for implementing environmental policies and practices and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation. |
PO7 |
Plan, prepare and present EIA-EMP Reports adhering to guidelines provided by regulatory authorities’ i.e SEIAA, MOEFCC, etc. for various developmental projects using scientific and problem-solving approach. |
PO8 |
Formulate environmental health and safety management systems as per statutory requirements and standards ensuring continuous improvement and facilitating best practices across the industries. |
PO9 |
Apply and integrate current laboratory and field based instrumentation, computer applications (including GIS and other softwares) and statistical techniques in the collection, organization, analysis and interpretation of data. |
PO10 |
Coordinate and oversee toxicology testing and risk assessment strategies to address eco-toxicological issues and risk characterization of chemicals released into the environment. |
PO11 |
Apply current applications of environmental microbiology and biotechnology for environmental quality evaluation, monitoring and remediation of contaminated environments. |
PO12 |
Conduct high quality primary and secondary research to develop new technologies, alternatives and solutions for energy and natural resource conservation, biodiversity monitoring, waste management, land reclamation, waste water treatment, air quality monitoring and analysis. |
PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES
PSO1 |
Formulate, organise and lead a team of environmental consultants and scientific officers towards data compilation, analysis and interpretation with respect to pollution control boards, Biodiversity boards, Disaster Management Committees and other industries. |
---|---|
PSO2 |
Work closely with central and state environmental regulators, industries and stakeholders to develop and promote eco-friendly products, wildlife surveys, ecosystem restoration projects, waste processing and disposal tools, and real time pollution monitoring systems to achieve sustainable development goals. |
PSO3 |
Integrate exhaustive knowledge of Environmental Science to excel in higher studies, developing innovative research ideas, modern teaching pedagogies and skills to write research papers and critical reviews related to Environmental Science and allied fields |
